Apple Pie
INGREDIENTS:
8 oz (225g) plain Flour
4 oz(110g) Margarine
2 oz (55g) Lard
pinch of Salt
2 tablespoons cold and
3 tablespoons hot Water
1 lb (500g) cooking Apples, sliced
1 oz (28g) Sugar,
and additional to sprinkle on crust
1 oz (28g) Milk
DIRECTIONS:
1. Rub all flour, margarine, lard, and salt ingredients
together until fine breadcrumbs
2. Add 2 tablespoons water to make a soft but firm dough
3. Roll pastry on floured surface to the size you want your
pie, make two crusts
4. Simmer sliced apples with 3 tbs water and 1 oz sugar
until soft
5. Add the cooked apple mixture to one of the pastry crusts
6. Cover with the other crust of the pie
7. Firm down edges with fork or finger
8. Brush the pastry top with milk and sprinkle with sugar
9. Bake at 275 °F (135 °C) until golden brown
(about 45 - 60 minutes)
10. Serve warm with ice cream or custard
