Spearmint

Spearmint (Mentha spicata, M. cardiaca, M. viridis) is the mint variety most commonly used in cooking, and yields an aromatic and carminative oil, referred to as oil of spearmint. It is named for its crinkled, spear-shaped leaves.

It has oblong, lanceolate, sub-acute, serrate leaves, and slender spikes of flowers. It is found in watery places.
